SADA thanks the SA Government for $3 Million Relief Package to support  Dairy Farmers in wake of Beston collapse

The South Australian Dairyfarmers' Association (SADA) today extends its sincere gratitude to the South Australian Government for the delivery of $3 million in critical support to dairy farmers impacted by the collapse of Beston Global Food Company.

The sudden financial distress associated with the Beston failure left many farmers in limbo, with unpaid invoices and uncertainty hanging over livelihoods that were already burdened by prolonged drought conditions. The State Government’s timely and targeted financial assistance has brought significant relief to desperate producers who have been grappling with mounting bills, feed shortages, and escalating operating costs.

SADA President Robert Brokenshire said the funding was a lifeline for many dairy farming families.

“This support has been more than monetary—it has restored a sense of hope for producers who have faced significant stress and financial hardship. We commend the South Australian Government for listening to the concerns of our industry and responding decisively.”

SADA also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of Treasury officials in fast-tracking the relief mechanism and so ensuring funds reached farmers swiftly.

“At a time when confidence in supply chain stability has been shaken, this response sends a strong message that the State Government is committed to safeguarding South Australia's dairy sector. We look forward to continued collaboration to build long-term resilience in our industry and implementing the ambitions of the South Australian Dairy Industry Action Plan 2024-2029.” the SADA President added.

The Association remains engaged with stakeholders across government and industry to secure further structural reforms, safeguard market fairness, and promote innovation throughout the dairy value chain.
