Dryland Legume Demonstration Site for Dairy-Beef Systems in the Murraylands Region

SADA is seeking 8–12 to participate in a dryland pasture legume demonstration site project in the Murraylands region.

Participants will explore how improved pasture choices can support better feed-base performance, livestock growth and efficiency in dairy-beef systems, while comparing dryland legume options under local farming conditions.

The demonstration will be established on a local dairy farm, comparing up to 20 dryland pasture legume species under local conditions, providing practical information on pasture performance, feed production and seasonal resilience. Together, participants will:

• Compare dryland pasture legume species under local farming conditions.
• Explore how pasture choice influences productivity, feed efficiency, seasonal resilience and emissions outcomes.
• Attend field days, demonstrations and workshops with support from agronomists and industry experts.
• Identify pasture options suited to their farming system.
• Participate in monitoring and data collection to evaluate pasture performance and share learnings.
• Identify opportunities to explore and implement at least one sustainable pasture or feed base-related practice change

The project will be supported by; Local agronomists, contractors and industry experts providing technical advice, site management support, workshops and practical guidance throughout the project.
